Datappraise is a software platform for commercial real estate appraisers. The company approached me to help modernize their aging application, which users found confusing, inefficient, and visually outdated. This was a freelance engagement focused on elevating both usability and visual design to align with contemporary standards in the industry. To kick off, I conducted a competitive analysis of peer platforms to benchmark expectations and identify UX opportunities.

Problem/Context

As a solo UX designer on this project, I owned the research and design process from start to finish. I conducted in-depth user interviews to understand how appraisers used the tool day-to-day, what pain points they encountered, and where the current workflow broke down. My goal was to map out their existing processes and identify clear areas for simplification and improvement.
